Ethiopia, being a party to FAO, has prepared and submitted two country reports (first and second). The Reports on the State of the Ethiopia’s Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture provide a comprehensive overview of recent trends in PGRFA conservation and use in the country. They are based on information gathered from all over the country as well as from relevant research and support organizations and academic programmes. The reports document the current status of plant genetic resources diversity, conservation and use, as well as the extent and role of national, regional and international efforts that underpin the contributions of PGRFA to food security. They highlight the most significant changes that have occurred in the sector. The first report on The State of the World’s Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture was produced and submitted to FAO in 1996.
